I ordered this for my brother & he said: "We bought this ice maker because we were tired of running back and forth to the store to buy ice in the summer. The supply line option of a water bottle or piped-in from a water source is excellent for our needs. This unit makes ice fast and fits the need. We have it in the garage to run the drain line outside. The size is compact enough that it is not in the way. We have all enjoyed having ice ready and on hand all the time. Before the ice maker, we were spending $40.00 to $60.00 a month for ice, and sometimes someone would need to remember to pick it up, and no one would have ice. Needless to say, we always have ice and love it. This unit paid for itself in one season by not having to run to the store and pay for bag after bag of ice. We received our icemaker last month and have been using it for weeks. We love it! It has been doing its job with no issues. My favorite thing is how you can change the size & thickness of the ice. We've recommended it to everyone."
My refrigerator isn't producing water or ice because of a leak, but still runs cold so I decided to get this instead of the cost repairing or replacing it. Pros: 1) It's described as a countertop appliance so it is small enough that it fits under your cabinets (see image #2). 2) It produces ice rather quickly (within 6 minutes) so it's always working on filling the ice bin (included) as long as there is continuous water supply. 3) It works quietly while producing the ice. 4) It has a water dispenser that can be pushed in while not in use and pop out when ready to use with the push of a button. 4) It holds up to 5 lbs of ice. 5) The ice bin can be removed for dumping ice into another container. 6) Melted ice can be recycled and reused for the next cycle of ice making. 7) You can manually add water into the top or remove the ice bin and pour into the bottom. 8) It allows you to make three different sizes of ice cubes. Cons: 1) Although it is described as a countertop, if you use a bottle on top for water supply, it will block your cabinets (see image #2). 2) Although it works quietly (as quiet as an ice maker in a refrigerator), it produces noice when dumping fresh ice into the bin. 3) The water dispenser is slow, you have to hold the button approximately 20 seconds per 8 ounces of water. 4) Unfortunately it doesn't keep the ice from melting, it melts into the bottom and gets recycled back through the process. 5) Due to the ice melting, if you pull the ice bin out to dump into another container, you will likely spill the water. You'll need to tilt the ice bin up so the excess water drains out of the back. 6) If adding water manually, it takes a minute to add 16 ounces from the top as it will overflow if adding too much too quickly (doesn't really appear to be designed for this option but it's possible). 7) If adding water to the bottom you have to be careful about water accumulated in the ice bin due to Con #4 & 5. 8) Doesn't light up the buttons at night. Other things to consider: 1) Be sure not to place the machine near appliances that get hot, such as stoves, toaster ovens, etc. It need to breathe in cool, fresh air to work effectively. 2) There are other options that allow you to dispense the ice as well as cold & hot water and are priced the same. 3) Several reviews complain about the taste of water. Read the directions before using it. As with anything new, you'll need to run some water through the system to get rid of the brand new plastic taste. I would recommend at least a gallon or two (just use tap water so you don't waste money on your bottled water). Unfortunately, too many people don't read the instructions and then complain about their own mistake. You would need to do the same thing with a brand new refrigerator.
I use a lot of ice and this thing keeps up very well. Now if the power blinks, you must turn it back on. Even with that...5 stars.
No me gusto que tarda mucho para hacer los hielos y es muy ruidosa la máquina, quisiera regresarla y me puedan devolver mi dinero, por favor!
I’ve had for two years now at the cabin. Would buy another one if it broke tomorrow. Love, not hauling bottled so cold water on demand is awesome. Small fridge and freezer at the cabin so now I don’t waste space in the freezer with ice bags or the refrigerator with soda.
