These lasted about a year and then the battery died. We kept them plugged in when they weren’t being played with (not the best for battery life, but convenient). The seat is held on with one screw. There’s a bar that keeps the battery in place with 2 screws. The battery was $25 on Amazon. I picked the glue off the old battery, and the old attachments slid onto the new terminals (I had to barely uncrimp the metal attachment with needle nose pliers to remove the old battery). Then reassemble and it’s good as new.
