This cold frame was very easy to assemble and looks very nice, so I am very happy with it! The only problem is that the lid is a little bit loose, so I have to adjust it every time I close it, but that's something I can deal with. I coated all the wood parts with 100% pure tung oil (food safe), so this cold frame should last many years.
This is awesome! My husband and I assembled it within 2 mins. I can not wait to use this to start my strawberry patch.
I am using this greenhouse to protect plants against freezing temps and hopefully the plants will be alive in the spring. I really like the hinged top because you can leave it up a little and tighten the 2 screws for ventilation. Top opens and also front doors for easy maintenance of plants. I have it located next to the brick outside wall of our home with south sun exposure. It was easy to assemble. Our evenings have been dipping down into the low 20’s and so far the plants are flourishing. My mint and rosemary plants looks very healthy. May grow more herbs as they seem to do well so far and great to add in recipes.
package came quickly, double boxed so the parts were in good shape. All the hardware needed was included ( nuts, bolts, screws, washers and instructions) It went together easily. When attaching the lid hinges to the main frame, be gentle tightening the wood screws in the soft wood. The tools I used were: a large and a small phillips head screwdriver, and a 10 mm open ended wrench (you could also use a small crescent wrench instead). The wood has a nice cedar smell to it, well built, light weight. I'll probably buy another closer to spring..
It showed up at the scheduled time. I was very happy to see that the polycarbonate panels were dual-walled instead of single, since that had not been clear in the on-line description. I spread Water-Seal on all the wooden parts, which seemed to be raw wood. It was easy to construct, with most (but not all) scew holes pre-started. I've picked it up and moved it various times with no sign of coming apart. Looking forward to seeing how well it holds heat in cold weather.
