This press is so great that we bought 1 for us and one for my sister-in-law. The juice that flows out is pure juice without the messy, pulp-filled stuff we were getting with the strainer & pestle method. Plus, it is a lot less work. Turn the screw to compress, get the flow going then walk away for about 10 minutes. Come back and repeat the process. We highly recommend the model as it was suggested by a friend who makes his own muscadine wine. If you want to make wine, jams or jellies get this tool- you'll be thankful!
During cleaning the base we had some of the finish flake off the rim. While mounting to a board we saw that 2 legs had the feet bent up. After inspecting the box, it was obvious that the item had been dropped sometime between packing at the factory and my UPS guy unloading it right in front of me. But....stuff happens. I might eventually have to get some touch-up paint but, that road is to be crossed later. It is working very well every day while berries are coming in! Before, we partially cooked the muscadines, crushed them with a 'tater masher, and then juiced them with strainers and pestles, which is way, way too much work! The worst was tossing the skins and all that pulp still full of juice - such a waste. Now it is so different. We didn't realize that by the old method, we were literally grinding the pulp against the strainer and it was going into the juice (compare photo is included). Now there is ONLY juice. We had a friend recommend this same press HW51296 and we are very glad he did. This unit is the perfect size for our needs and we, as well as our wine-making friend highly recommend it. We also, suggest buying directly from costway.com. They have the best price, period! As far as our "fender-bender" giving us chipped paint, all I would ask of the company is for them to supply a matching paint marker. If they can't we are still very happy with it. Photos: 1. Pressed juice on the left, Musca-sludge from strainer on the right 2. To prevent scuffing the metal parts we made a Plexiglass shim and a washer made from Teflon or Nylon material 3. The video demonstrates the pure flow of juice. Thank You
Worked great to squeeze some blueberries from the garden to make wine. Will be using on other fruit too to blend in wine batches.
It is easy to use the item, the item totally meets my needs.
Great little cider press for the price! I do wish they had included more blocks, as everyone else here has said. We modified by turning them long-ways between the press and the apples, and did large batches.
