Pretty nice, easy assembly

I really like the look of these stools, especially with the wood/accent colors of my new kitchen. They look exactly like the pictures.They're about 3 inches too tall to be really comfortable with the kitchen counter (the seat is right at 30", which makes them 'bar height' when I would be better off with 'counter height' stools). I'm hoping I can shorten the legs to make them fit better. (I don't want to return them, because they're perfect aside from the height -- I looked and looked and looked to find something I liked, and nothing else was even close to matching as well as these do).
