Customer say

Customers praise this mini split for its quiet, energy-efficient heating and cooling, easy installation (especially with proper tools), and strong performance even in extreme temperatures. The 8-year warranty and good customer service add value. Some note minor issues with installation complexity, line-set length, and bright LED screens, but overall sentiment is highly positive.

  • Excellent Value Mini Split – Installed It Myself and Couldn't Be Happier

I installed this Costway Airtural Series 18,000 BTU 21 SEER2 mini split in my insulated 24x32 garage and couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. I spent a lot of time researching mini splits before buying this one, and for the price, I think it offers incredible value. It has been quiet, efficient, and has kept my garage comfortable without noticeably increasing my electric bill. This was also my first mini split installation. Before the unit arrived, I ran a new 220V circuit from my breaker panel to an outdoor disconnect and installed a 110V GFCI outlet below it for future use. I mounted the template, drilled a pilot hole to verify the line set location, found my wall studs, and determined the best location for both the indoor air handler and outdoor condenser. Rain slowed the project down, but once the weather cleared I mounted the air handler, installed upgraded rubber vibration isolators on the wall bracket, and mounted the condenser on heavier-duty isolation feet that I purchased separately. After leveling everything, I straightened the factory line set and planned my routing. To avoid kinking the copper tubing, I used internal tube benders for every bend. Once I determined the final length, I cut the copper lines, deburred them, lightly polished the ends with 1500-grit sandpaper, and made new flares using an eccentric clutch flaring tool. I applied Nylog Blue to every flare and tightened everything to the proper torque specification. Before releasing the factory refrigerant, I removed the valve cores and pressure tested the system with dry nitrogen. The unit is rated for 620 PSI, so I tested it to approximately 550 PSI. I'm really glad I did. Before reaching 500 PSI, one of the factory flares blew apart. Had I skipped the pressure test and simply opened the service valves, I would have lost the factory refrigerant. Instead, I cut about an inch off the tubing, created a new flare, and started over. The second pressure test reached 566 PSI and stabilized at 563 PSI. Every flare and fitting passed with Big Blue leak detector, and after leaving the system pressurized for about three hours, it was still sitting at exactly 563 PSI. Next, I evacuated the system below 100 microns and performed a 15-minute decay test. It stabilized at about 500 microns, confirming the system was clean, dry, and leak-free. After wrapping the line set and finishing the installation, I powered everything up. Heat mode produced about 91 degrees five feet in front of the indoor unit within just a few minutes. Cooling has been equally impressive and the system is surprisingly quiet both inside and outside. I've only needed the heat on a few cool spring mornings, but now that summer is here the air conditioning has been fantastic. My insulated garage stays comfortable even on hot days, making it a much better place to work. To complete the installation properly, I used nitrogen, a digital manifold gauge set, micron gauge, valve core removal tools, vacuum pump, eccentric flaring tool, torque wrench, Nylog Blue, internal tube benders, flare seals, and Big Blue leak detector. Not everyone needs to buy all of these tools since some can be rented, but I wanted to do the installation correctly and plan to install additional mini splits in the future. To give the installation a more professional appearance, I also installed an HVAC surge protector inside the outdoor disconnect and finished everything with line set covers. Both upgrades were inexpensive and made a big difference in the finished look while adding extra protection. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this: don't automatically trust the factory flares. Mine failed during pressure testing. Cut the lines, make your own flares, pressure test with nitrogen, and perform a proper vacuum decay test before releasing the refrigerant. It takes a little extra time, but it's well worth it. Overall, I think this mini split is an outstanding value. It's quiet, efficient, cools my garage extremely well, heats quickly when needed, and has exceeded my expectations. Between the upgraded isolation mounts, surge protector, line set covers, and taking the time to pressure test, vacuum test, and torque every fitting correctly, I feel like I ended up with an installation that looks and performs like a professional install. I would absolutely buy this unit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable mini split for a garage, workshop, or similar space.

  • Exceeded expectations for the price

After extensive research, I chose this model for its balance of price, efficiency, and cold-weather heating capability. It cools and heats my 650 sq.ft. apartment quickly and evenly. The fan is so quiet on the low setting we can barely hear it. The build quality feels solid. For the money, you simply cannot beat this unit.
