it is a great banjo after you set it up. if you are willing to work on it a little bit. I play guitar so it was something for me to get started playing banjo.
Good but not great ok for the price I would not buy again.
So, the thing with these bajitars is that they sound very quiet and poor, because you have to get the right strings and put them on correctly. If you just play the strings they send, it'll sound super muffled and quiet and you'll be disappointing. Not sure why they don't provide more instruction. However, do a youtube search on what to do and you'll get some great tips. Once you get the right strings on, and in the proper place, you'll be really happy. Its not as simple as low string on top and high string on bottom. Then you can just play it like a guitar with that blue grass sound. I love mine now. It also pays to get it set up at a guitar store. Its an extra 50$ or so, but you won't regret it. Cheap/inexpensive guitars almost universally HAVE to be set up. 95% of buyer disappointment when buying cheap guitars/basses, is lack of set up!
The 6 string banjo came labeled with Sonart on the headstock. I was kinda hoping it would be left blank like the pictures in the ad. Took little over a week to be delivered. No sharp frets or anything. Tuning pegs work. Bridge is garbage but it’ll work for now. Would be nice if it came with a paper gauge or something to set the bridge length up. The action on this thing is absolutely horrible. Out of the box so far it plays, feels and sounds like a $150 toy. I’m gonna take it to a music shop next week and get it professionally set up before I cast anymore judgement on it.
Slight crack on the base of the neck, very high string action. I recommend looking at a different Banjo company.
