Got this one to replace a rusted, less-heavy, 7 year-old base. Fits the bill. Appears to be quality made. Instructions are a bit vague, but I figured it out.
bought this for our cantilever umbrella. The base of the umbrella is a cross shape and can be adjusted however I needed some weight and this is great. It is made of 4 separate pieces which makes it easy to move around. It covers the base of the umbrella easily. The holes are a little small so I used a funnel to hold the water. I filled 2 holes with sand and 2 with water. So far it has worked great and has held up well in the wind and rain.
We bought one of those large offset umbrellas, only to find out it needed a 155 lb base, and the few we looked at weren't heavy enough. Then I saw this one - I love that it's made of four separate pieces so you can still move them around even when it's fully loaded. Also, since it's separate, it's more adaptable to different brands of umbrellas. The plastic feels sturdy, and is molded in a way that you can still hold and maneuver it - since it's a little fiddly when fully loaded. I also love that the plastic doesn't leave rust marks on my patio when I move or remove the umbrella. So far, I'm impressed with the design and quality.
Bottom surface is concave so that it sits flat on uneven surface. Tube that holds the umbrella pole is thick metal. Base is black with gold. Wanted all black so spray painted it with several coats of flat black. Took paint well.
Easy to use/install. My previous umbrella frame was a 4-piece one, but it wasn't very durable. I've been using this for a few months and the umbrella hasn't flipped over once. Good value for money.
